Holidays Series Watching.

It's school holidays so you know what that means... Series! Possibly the most obligatory part of anyone's holiday; and I'm only partially ashamed to admit that I've already finished 2 and I just started my third. Oops...

Let the brief descriptions begin!

I started off my holiday series marathon with The Carrie Diaries, which is a prequel to 'Sex and the City'. A combination of my friend's nagging and some gifs of the beautiful cast on tumblr, I finally decided to start watching it. The series is a rather quirky take on  Carrie Bradshaw, before she makes it big in the big apple, as a teenager. It follows her and her friends and helps explore life as a teenager in the 80's and all of the challenges they face because children of the 80's had problems too.

I may have lied earlier when I said that I
had finished some seasons, this one I just got up to date with, that's right, it's Pretty Little Liars, as I hope you guess from my mini pun.
Four seasons strong, this show follows 4 girls a year after the death of a friend, Alison and how they cope with the constant harassment by mystery figure 'A'. 'A' has all of the traits of dead friend, Ali, and knows all of the girl's secrets and uses them as blackmail for each respective girl. As soon as you start to think you know what is going on, a new twist is thrown into the game and you just get all frustrated because you think you've worked it all out, but you haven't.

I then did a very bad thing and watched the pilot for American Horror Story and now I'm just as hooked as I am terrified; in the best sense of the word. I'm 9 episodes into the 12 and loving it as well as missing sleep since I'm not usually a horror girl, which was silly of me as the title should have given that one away. The Harmon family moves into a house which is haunted by every past inhabitant that is buried in the house; which, of course, sparks many problems. Each episode starts off with a story from the past and the deeper into the series you go, the more is uncovered.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have episode 10 of American Horror Story to watch.

OOTM: The Cab.

I'm two days late and I apologize but it will be worth it. I've just been rather poorly but I'm not going to bore you with those details so here we goooo

June's Obsession of the Month: The Cab

Possibly one of the coolest bands I've ever heard. I want to thank the beautiful people of tumblr for helping me find them.

They are a really fun pop rock (one of those happiness educing genres) bands and have been around for roughly 5 years and they should be much more famous than they are.

Before I talk about their music, let's talk about their faces.

Mmm. Yes. Now that we've enjoyed that, let's move onto some actual reviewing.

~wee~

Their debut album, Whisper War (2008) was one of the first albums I've listen to and instantly liked in a very long time. All of the songs are fun and upbeat and you can't not sing along once you think you know the words and you're left tapping your feet to the beat before you fall asleep. All of the lyrics are the expected pop rock lyrics but I adore them and they just make me happy.

My favourite songs? That 70's Song, One of Those Nights & Can You Keep a Secret? (which has been played 48 times since I downloaded the album on Sunday; can we just? That isn't too bad... )

Symphony Soldier (2011) is possibly one of the most auditory pleasing things ever. [Thanks guys, you make my ears happy :)]
This album is much more versatile than their first one which is good as it kind of shows maturity of the band, I guess? Maybe I'm just being pretentious in saying that but the album is seriously great regardless. Versatility is good. All of the lyrics are the perfect combination of partial lovey dovey and 'I'm so over you' sassy.

Best songs? Angle with a Shotgun, Temporary Bliss, La La & Endlessly (which has the most amazing lyrics ever)

Essentially, you should go and buy their albums and listen to them all the time like I do because they will make you very happy.

Obsessions...

Since it takes me approximately 3 minutes for me to become obsessed with something, I thought I'd start an "Obsession of the..." and I'm still figuring out if it'll be monthly or weekly, but maybe it'll purely be dependent on how long it takes for me to become obsessed with something new (not so long)

As you can tell by my annoying posts, it's currently polyvore, but I can almost assure you that next week it'll be outranked by something else.

Addicted to Polyvore.

This blog may start to become flooded with polyvore as a result of my crazy addiction. I am apologizing in advance.
I will try to rationalize my, um... yeah... TRY. No promises.

Polyvoring.

So, I joined a site called polyvore ages ago and I had completely forgotten about it up until last night when I was going on a "I really want a blue fur coat" rampage and I stumbled onto this beautiful website that I was logged on to and there was my beloved blue fur coat...

Selling for roughly $3860 I thought that I'd give this amazing creation a miss. Next time though.

I then looked a bit deeper into the website and found out that you can like items and make your own collections and do some insanely fun things on it.

Naturally, I've gotten very carried away but c'est la vie. Polyvore > every other website right now. This is wear I'm at right now. (It's a terrible pun, not a shocking typo -- apologies).

The only drawbacks of this website are that it: A. Makes you feel incredibly poor and B. sad that you don't own any of the clothing on it and C. that your 4 jackets aren't as pretty as you thought they were yesterday.

If I make a new whatever on the site, I will start posting them to here as well. Look at me being all fashionable and shnazzy and whatnot.

My bronzer broke...

So this happened...

I sort of dropped my bronzer... It was an accident and I would never do anything to hurt it.
Anyway, I took this opportunity to go for a mini make up haul.

My shopping spree started off by replacing my broken bronzer. I bought the sun club bronzer in blondes by Essence. I am one of those people that once they find something they like, they probably won't try anything else every again. So I found this and I love it. The colouring it just right, it is perfectly pigmented for me. I bought a mini one as to stop this horrible habit of mine. Once it's finished I promise to try out a new one.

I then picked this up from somewhere. #21 Fuso. I just love how neutral it is. It's perfect for french manicures or even plain and I can wear it to school without hassling with having to try hide my fingers when I'm around my teachers.

Then I headed off to MAC to have a look and somehow I walked out with a shopping back and this inside it. Amber Lights (frost) is such a beautiful colour and it suits everyone. It is just one of those essential colours to have.

I walked out of The Body Shop with this fun little eye shadow - #02 eye shimmer. I love the container so much, I might have bought it just for that. I'm just kidding, but in all seriousness, I love the colour, it's a creamy white with a nice subtle shimmer.  It isn't very pigmented, which I really like too.

Now, all of this happened while I was out shopping with my dad; so the fact that I got all of this is pretty good. Apparently I'm into beige at the moment, I'll try to be more colourful next time.

TOPSHOP

After many years of yearning for a Topshop to open in Cape Town, it finally happened.
Topshop opened at the V & A Waterfront on Thursday, which makes it super new.
Luckily for me. I am fortunate enough to be quite well traveled and have had the advantage of experiencing the best of the best shops overseas. This has also made me well adept in knowing my sizes -- most useful thing ever.
As I walked up the stairs to go to the shop, I heard the pumping music Topshop always has playing and as I walked in I felt at home.
I knew the setup, my sizes and how to elbow my way through a crowd.

I headed off to the fitting rooms, which was a bit of a nightmare but that was to be expected. Chose my new stuff and headed out.

Since crop tops were literally everywhere in
the store, I figured I'd go for some.

The first being a leopard print bra crop top which is a lot of fun and I seriously love animal prints so that was right up my alley. It's soft and doesn't make me look like a slut when I wear it which is honestly perfect.

Then came this little mint lace number which I love. Once it's on I don't want to take it off. It's kind of one off those.

Both tops were reasonably prices which makes life beautiful.
Obviously, the leopard print bra crop top thing
(I really don't know what to call it)
was more expensive, but I'll get so much wear
out of it , so it's fine.

I bought some other things, but those will pop in other posts.

All in all; I was very impressed with the shop and the prices and I can't wait to go back!

Firsts.

There is always a first time for everything.
First meals. First kisses. First plane rides. First blog posts.
First things happen and they are either good or bad. So here is to a new start.

I can't tell you what what type of blog this will be; it's pretty open ended, but it may involve fun fashion and lifestyle tips idk.
C'est sera sera.
Excuse me being a tad pretentious -- it sometimes happens.
